With the progressive concentration of firm ownership in the hands of strategic owners such as entrepreneurs, business families, private equity investors, venture capitalists, cooperatives, financial asset managers, foundations and states, the need to discuss the strategic influence of owners for firm strategy becomes ever more relevant. What are ways how owners contribute to the firm’s value generation? What competences and knowledge do owners need today to effectively exercise their ownership rights? What role do owners (as opposed to managers) play to meet the grand challenges of our times, in particular sustainability, innovation and growth?
The Owners as Strategists Conference aims to provide a platform to jointly discuss these and other questions around the strategic, value-creating role of ownership, to exchange experiences, and to provide novel impulses for firm owners.
Conferences dates
The two-day Owners as Strategists Conference combines a Practitioner Day with an Academic Day. Practitioners are invited to join the Academic Day and vice versa to build bridges and foster exchange between research and practice.
You are also kindly invited to join the keynote by Prof. Oliver Hart, Harvard Professor and Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences in 2016, as part of the Academic Day, who also holds valuable insights for practitioners.

Organisers
The Owners as Strategists Conference is a joint effort by the AIDAF-EY Chair in Strategic Management in Family Business, Bocconi University, Italy, and the Center for Family Business (CFB-HSG) and Swiss Institute for Small Business and Entrepreneurship (KMU-HSG) of the University of St. Gallen. The Owners as Strategists Conference will be held annually and in turns between both Universities.
